Sleep issues...

Okay, so by now I would think I would be sleeping through the night - right?? Well, for some reason Natalie is waking up a lot and then wakes me up to say she can't go back to sleep. We have done everything possible to try and fix it and it is still going on. There is always a reason why she needs me. I will admit as an infant, I rocked her completely sleep - bad idea - but this only started really happening this past year. HELP!!! Last night Tim finally said she could lay on our floor. A friend said this is what they do and after a few nights, the child stays in their bed. She doesn't like waking up and being the only awake - very fearful. We have talked with her about praying and trusting that God will protect her and we as best as we can. Any thoughts or ideas would be most helpful.

Have her memorize Psalm 4:8...
I will lie down and sleep in peace,
for you alone, O LORD,
make me dwell in safety. (NIV)

I am the same way, I hate to wake in the middle of the night and be the only one awake - it makes me fearful. Does she have a lamp in her room she can turn on? A radio or CD player? Those might helps, too. Got to cut short - taking Nin to the hair dresser...she cut her own hair...and it's time to leave. We can talk about this more later - I understand where Natalie is coming from - totally! :)

Maybe if you can figure out why she's waking up in the first place that would help? I would cut out caffeine (if she drinks it) for a while and cut out sugar a few hours before bedtime. Also, having a noise maker might help drown out noises if that's waking her up. I have one that's a naturally good sleeper and one that didn't sleep through the night until she was 3! We finally just had to tell her if she woke up, she could play with something quietly in her bed but couldn't wake us up. We were exhausted!
